About
Henrik Gjerstad (b. 1996) is a Norwegian artist based in Oslo.
Specialising in the mediums of oil paint, acrylic, ink jet and spray paint, Henrik is known for his expressionist and abstract artworks. The expressionist works often incorporate text and lyrics, whereas the abstract pieces feature organic shapes, deep textures and vivid colours. Street art and textures of urban environments form a core source of inspiration for Henrik.
Many of his experiences and artistic interpretations are developed during studies and travels to different places around the world. For Henrik, the process of producing art ignites a journey to a free place where anything and everything can happen.
He holds a Master of Art and Architecture from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen (2015–2021). In 2018, he undertook studies in painting and sculpture at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in Providence, USA, and in 2020, he attended TU Delft in the Netherlands.
Over the years, he has exhibited in France, Copenhagen (DK), New York (US), and various galleries around in Norway, and his works have since found homes across the globe.
