Henrik Gjerstad (b. 1996, Oslo) is a Norwegian artist based in Oslo and Copenhagen. His relationship with art was cultivated growing up with his father Pål Gjerstad and grandfather Ivar Gjerstad in their art studio in Oslo. Henrik is a very dedicated and eager artist, and thus his production is high. He is most experienced in the mediums of oil paint, acrylic, spray paint and digital art, amongst others. He is inspired by street art and the urban environment. For him, the process of producing art ignites a journey to a free place where anything and everything can happen. He is known for his expressionist art, which often incorporates text and lyrics. Henrik’s goal is to continue to build his unique style of contemporary art and to create modern art for the future. Utilising the technique of mixed media, most of his works combine acrylic, oil painting, inkjet and other mediums. Usually the backdrop is created digitally and then printed on high quality canvas. The colours, lines, and motifs are painted with acrylic and oil paints.

According to the mixed media technique, most of the works combines acrylic, oil painting, inkjet and other mediums. Usually the background is created digitally and printed out on high quality canvas.  The colours, lines and motives are painted with acrylic or oil painting. The interplay of various mediums builds up an artistic landscape – layer upon layer of distorted elements and colourful shapes that overlap and intertwine with each other. The balance of colours forms an integral role in the process. Usually, there are 5 editions of each painting. They have similarities, but are different from each other. Each painting is original and unique.
